I Miss You

“Anchan,” Honey called in his door, rapping it with her knuckles after the fact.
Akira only let out a whine in response.
“Your editor called; he wants you to go in with the manuscript next week.”

Akira picked himself up off the table, peeling the tone off the side of his face. Crap, he was only halfway through the manuscript. He’d gotten caught up drawing “side projects”. His publisher wasn’t too keen on tapping into the BL market quite yet. Every time he pitched his BL manga he got shut down.

They wouldn’t have so much trouble getting manuscripts off him if they were willing to accept the pile he’d built up!

It would be easier to write other things with Shou-chan there. The closest he was getting was drawing his memories of him. His cute Shou-chan, all the memories of dates where he hadn’t even held Akira’s hand or lying on his back begging for him. He drew him so many times. Yet those stories were being left for only him to read.

He’d managed to shift a few of the drawings into something more feminine to satiate the publishers. Even the page he was working on offered Shou-chan’s soft eyes staring at him, with the gentle blush dusting his cheeks. The small titty direction had tapped him into a nice audience where he’d been able to crop back the hair little by little every new release. They’d gotten a few letters about the appeal of “tomboy” girls, so the publisher had been happy for him to handle that market for a while.

But now he was starting to get tired of that too. None of it was enough! Halfway through this manuscript and he wished he could scrap the whole thing. Once he handed this one in, he’d have to ask about switching demographic again. He could bring back the ladies with long hair and massive tits! But what about kaiju? There had to be lots of people in this world mourning the loss of their kaiju-filled sex lives!

Something he’d never gotten.

“Anchan.” Honey set a plate of biscuits in front of him. He took one, chewing on it in small bites as he tried to keep his arm over the manuscript’s contents. Just because this Honey was old enough to read such things didn’t mean she got to read such things wrote by her brother.

“When are you going to meet Shoutarou again?” She asked and took a biscuit for herself. Akira shot upright.
“Well, you see.” He made some meaningless gestures with his hands before remembering and slamming them back down over the manuscript. “I was thinking that, um. That I’d- I would…”
“You’ve walked past his house three times this week.”
“I… is that so…”
“It’s Tuesday.”
“We don’t know that he still…”
“We saw his dad.”
“Did you? I didn’t. I didn’t even…”

“Are you scared?”
Akira nodded.
“Why?”

How couldn’t he be? So much had happened and what if…

“You’re being stupid.”
“I KNOW THAT!” His bottom lip was quivering. Of course, he was being stupid. There was no way things changed that much.

It was scary though.

He loved Shou-chan a lot. But he’d remember the day when Shoutarou first told him about his family. How it was the first time he told anyone even something close to anything about his own situation.

Part of their bond was built on the similar parts of their lives. Things that had shaped them into who they were.

Things that had, now, never happened.

But they had happened. He still remembered them.

There were nights he saw them kill Honey again. Nights where he ran to her room to make sure they weren’t real.

Shou-chan probably had similar times. Times he forgot he had family. Whatever family that may be in this world.

Nothing had changed really.

So, when was he going to get his Shou-chan back!
