Hurricaneger is unfortunately not the most stand out series. I enjoyed it plenty but in the end it’s a pretty run of the mill sentai. It holds some of the things that would be adapted to Power Rangers Ninja Storm, but I ended up liking Ninja Storm more. There’s nothing actually wrong with Hurricaneger, but it just doesn’t particularly stand out to me. The villains aren’t really anything special either.
Oboro however is the standout character of this series and I love her.
However, I enjoyed having such a physically affectionate character, he really likes being close to people and is a sweet puppy.
Despite Toei being Toei, I love Nanami. She’s a dumb lesbian that fights all who betray her. I don’t really mind her having to be an idol too much given I guess she did get kidnapped and forced to attend this ninja school. Though there’s probably a lot better careers they could of took her to. Nanami is as dumb and emotionally unaware as Yosuke at least, and it makes sense why they’re friends. She’s not as much of a baby but they’re very alike.
I’m saying it here but neither of these brothers have any brain left inside their skulls.
They’ve been in too many fights, any would be brains are just mush now.
In actuality, he’s a lot more open than Ikkou, being the first to tell their goals, tell their backstory, etc. Isshu’s not as invested in obtaining “that” (what did you boys even want “that” for anyway) as Ikkou it seems but something something bring our secret ninja school out into the public to make it not secret and not the dark ninja school or something.
Which is enough to make me like him.
The man is a gay disaster.
The main issue of shurikenger is he’s a bit of a gimmick character. We got his backstory a bit but it wasn’t really the most standout. He’s still… likeable though.
Hurricaneger isn’t high on my recommendation list at all, but I wouldn’t say it’s a bad series.
