I’ve watched Blade once and overall I can’t really say I liked or disliked it. There was definitely some stuff I disliked and they were called Haruka, Amane, and the Kotarou wants to fuck this monster arc.

On this initial watch the series seemed a bit messy, and like it didn’t really know where it was going due to issues behind the scenes. I feel like if I rewatch it now that I know where the story is going, I’ll probably come out liking it more.

One thing is I really didn’t like Amane. Usually I don’t mind kids in toku, I love cute family dynamics, I love adoptive parents. Amane however hit me as a selfish brat that Haruka let do whatever she wants. Amane wants to endanger herself? Haruka doesn’t care, go for it Amane! Amane wants to bring this strange man we know nothing about and he has nothing to prove his identity into our home? Sure thing, as a responsible parent I’m okay with this! Especially when she, an 8-12 year old, is hitting on him. Kotarou is standing there going “HEY HARUKA, HE COULD BE A PEDOPHILE?? IT’S EXTREMELY LIKELY HE KILLED YOUR HUSBAND??? HARUKA??” but Haruka Sure Doesn’t Care. I honestly can’t tell if I was more annoyed by Amane herself or Haruka’s awful parenting.

Overall, I’ll say watch Blade because most people like it, but don’t be too surprised if you feel you need to rewatch it to fully understand.

Also be prepared for A LOT of heterosexual subplots.
