Kamen Rider OOO

While Godai Yusuke is one of my all time favourite riders, I do feel Eiji worked with that model and gave it a more hopeful feeling. We take Eiji from okay but struggling, to hell, and then back to a place where we can believe things can get better for him. Eiji is a loving person who wants to help people but has been forced to realise he can’t help everyone, he has to help those who are actually within reach. Despite knowing that, it doesn’t change that he wants to help everyone. He’s also got his own little mean streak with Ankh, they both bully each other and try to get things from each other but they each give and take the same. Their dynamic does fuel most the show and it’s clear how much they come to mean to each other.

Date Akira is extremely high on my favourite secondaries list. He’s so sweet and lovable and muscular and damn if I don’t love him. He highlights a lot of what I love in OOO, one of the primary things being that he’s a good person, he’s a hero, he’s nice, he’s friendly, and he claims to just be in this for the money. Wanting money doesn’t make him a bad person. Money can be necessary in life and Date needs a lot of money. He wants money but he’s not some horrible person who puts it above other people. He’s a delight throughout the show and is a big part of what makes me love OOO so much.

Gotou is our baby of ambition. He wants to be the hero and help people and wants to save the world. He isn’t interested in being confined to only those he can reach. But it’s constantly brought up how he lets his dreams slip away from him, and it’s almost as if he isn’t trying for them. We have to see Gotou refocus himself and work hard to get what he wants when it’s not as easy as having it handed to him. He’s a caring person and I love him.
