Kamen Rider Zi-O

Publication Date: 12/08/2019

Oh My God I Love Zi-O. I have loved Zi-O from the beginning and I kept loving it all the way through. This was the show for me and I’m so glad. Rejoice, for with this we mark the end of the Heisei Generation of Kamen Riders.

Zi-O is, in my opinion, not that hard to understand, however it does require you follow the first rule of the .5 episodes; Don’t ask unnecessary questions. As long as you do that, you’re not going to get confused. Time travel is hard, multiple universes is hard, as long as you just accept this and take the little explanation, you’ll be fine. Things are explained but a lot of people seemed to miss them, but if you pay attention it makes enough sense that if you don’t think too hard about it it’s fine.

Like everyone I think I’d of loved some more of the .5 episodes just because it was so good having the returning riders in it. I’m kind of just full of love for this series though.

Also the finale had such great references to Kuuga, and having Sougo accept the darkness within him in a contrast to Godai made a really nice bookend for the series. It gave me a soft spot, along with the similarities to Ryuki. It also felt like an actual end, where while I know these characters lives will go on, the actual story was over and a new one will begin.

I love Sougo, he’s such a fun main character. I love the Ryuki eps featuring him learning to accept he’s a bad person and no one really stops that. He has so few brain cells and he just wants to be the nicest evil overlord. Seeing him change with the help of his friends but never giving up on his dreams was so good. I have many emotions for how much I love Sougo and it is very hard to express them all.

On the other hand, Geiz is fine. He has really significant growth in the series and it’s well done. His main fault is he never does anything for Shiroz, in any way. Shiroz is literally willing to die for you Geiz and you don’t give him even a passing glance but you criticize Sougo. Also we never got much on his sadman deadwife which is a blessing but also we don’t even know if it was a dead wife.

Woz is my sunshine, my boy, my sweet mess. Terrible and evil and supportive of Sougo’s dreams. He faulters but comes back to his overlord. Watching Woz change for the sake of his king was great. It’s obvious why he’s fan favourite because he’s just so good.

YOU ALL DOUBTED ME WHEN I SAID SHE’D BE A RIDER LOOK WHO’S LAUGHING NOW!

As always, girls aren’t done great in Kamen Rider, but I didn’t have really many problems with the handling of Tsukuyomi. Her development is a really cool contrast to Geiz and her suit is amazing. 祝え for our first rider of the Reiwa era!

Tsukasa Kadoya…

It was weird having Tsukasa as a rider and being on the receiving end of a visit from the destroyer of worlds. It’s really weird seeing how Tsukasa has grown into his place as the destroyer of worlds to the point where he is just like know what I’m gonna destroy this and none of you can stop me.

Daiki is the blessing we needed while Tsukasa was here. Daiki is always needed. Daiki is here to make sure Tsukasa eats sea cucumber and that’s what’s important. Daiki didn’t achieve anything here really except be gay and know what that’s the only way to truly write Daiki so thank you Zi-O.

French Woz Deserved Better Justice For French Woz.

Also I still want to hear about French Woz’s world and I fully believe Geiz can be whatever tyrannical ruler they hinted at purely cause of how he treated his Woz. Never trust a man who is mean to service staff.

Please watch Zi-O but ONLY if you have finished Blade and Kabuto because the show contains massive spoilers for both.
