This show is just so good. One thing in tokusatsu is a lot of unbelievable family dynamics, or families that are just abusive or dead. R/B however really highlighted how to write a good family based tokusatsu show. I love this family so much, they really made me love them. I cared so much about their relationships and their sibling squabbles and everything.

I love the villains in this, I love Aizen and I adore Saki. Saki was so good and such an amazing sympathetic villain, I love her so much.

Katsumi is such a good big brother and he is working so hard to deal with his younger siblings. He’s so easy to love, trying to be serious but still kind of goofy and just someone full of love.

I love Isami too, he’s so smart but such an absolute goof. He cares about people so much but he has such a hard time making calls, unless spurred by his curiosity. He’s a really nice balance to Katsumi and they’re really good brothers.

Asahi is the jewel of R/B. It was amazing to see a female character who is extremely nice and happy, but still was interesting. Asahi felt like she had depth to her, and mysteries, and she ends up driving the entire plot. After we meet Saki, this show becomes Asahi’s and their relationship is a gem. Also the entire plot of them realising she might not be their birth sister and deciding that it didn’t matter because that didn’t change that she was family. They treat her as their family despite it because they love her. I love Asahi so much and she brought out the best writing in the show.

I can honestly say, if you like tokusatsu, do yourself the favour and watch Ultraman R/B. They really nailed so much in this series and I can’t wait to see the Minato family in the movie.
